Prayer Focus - Victory over Temptation

Answer these self-evaluation questions:

  1. Do you usually take the advice of your close friends when faced with a serious issue? If so, what is the level of their spirituality?

  2. How rational (logical, sensible, wise) do you think your thoughts are regarding the issue you are facing in your life at this time? Do those thoughts conform to God’s Word?

Scripture Study:

Matthew 4:1-11 “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hundred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”

What did Jesus do to gain victory over His temptation? (the answer is in the Scripture and at the bottom of this page). Write a promise to yourself to do the same thing the next time a situation arises in your life that leads you to respond in your own way.

Pray asking God to help you recognize this type of temptation, for the strength to resist it and the ability to hear His voice clearly.  Declare your faith in the Holy Spirit’s operation in your life to reveal Satan’s attempt to test you against God’s Word. Renounce any weakness you have that will cause you to fall prey to Satan’s deception. Decree by quoting God’s Word and declaring victory over your life and the temptation of your flesh!

diet tip

Eating more protein tips:

1) It’s suggested that we eat the high sourced protein (meats, poultry or fish) in our meals before eating the starches.  This will control blood sugar and insulin levels and makes us feel satisfied.

2) Between meal snacks should consist of cheese or nuts for energy and curve cravings.

3) Chopped Almonds add texture to your meal and provides added protein.

4) We get a good amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for a good green salad with plenty of vegetables but limited protein. To add an extra punch to our disease protecting salad, add protein rich food to it to fight feeling hungry afterwards.
